Healthy Food For All: Remembrance Farm Dinner

I volunteered at the Healthy Food for All Fundraising Dinner on August 27. It took place in Trumansburg, which is about a half-hour drive from Ithaca, but it feels like a world away from the beauty and serenity of it. The dinner took place at the Remembrance Farm, a large farm nestled in the back of the town. The organization, Healthy Food For All, is a program of the Cornell Cooperative Extension of Tompkins County, and seeks to provide low income families with accessible and fresh produce.

The dinner that APO volunteered at was a fundraising dinner; local establishments donated food and wine for guests to have an enjoyable night. A tour of the farm was also given to guests, many of whom brought their families with them. The dinner was a great way to connect with a community that most Cornell students don’t get to see, and also help out with an event that aids so many people. ¬†Through this event, we were helping facilitate something with a very real and direct impact on people. Being hosts and photographers and waiters for a full dinner was a very exciting experience for everyone. Getting to try some delicious food and see the sights of the farm was also amazing.
